January 20th, 2025, marked the end of the former U.S. President Joe Biden’s four- year term in office. As Donald Trump moves into office several things will be changed in the country as Trump states he will address issues regarding border security and inflation which he claims Biden did not take action towards. Biden’s term in office was quite a unique one as the whole world was hit with Covid-19 and many global relationships intensified such as the Ukraine – Russia and Israel-Palenstine conflicts. In this article we will discuss what Biden accomplished as a President and what major actions he took to solve international affairs.

In January of 2021, President Biden was inaugurated as the 46th president of the United States of America. At this time, the country was trying to manage issues with the global pandemic as possible vaccine options were coming out but shortage of medical equipment to support infected citizens became a massive problem. President Biden managed funding aid policies with Congress in an attempt to respond and try to recover from the pandemic. After the World Health Organization officially declared the end to the pandemic in May of 2023, Biden’s goals started to shift towards international conflicts.

During the pandemic, Biden and the U.S. government had sent funds to help aid Ukraine as it was invaded in 2022. As months passed more military support was provided to Ukraine and as Ukraine’s citizens started evacuating to other countries Biden expanded humanitarian aid to support the refugees, providing food, shelter, and medical care. Biden worked towards strengthening NATO unity and by the end of 2024, the war in Ukraine had reached a stalemate which led to debates on if the U.S. should continue to be involved with conflicts between Russia and Ukraine.

Apart from helping other countries economically, the U.S. faced major economic changes and inflation during Biden’s term. For instance, before Biden’s term the average price for a gallon of gas in the country was $2.39 which many already thought was high enough until prices rose to $3.10 per gallon at the end of his term, leaving millions of citizens unhappy. During this period he signed the Inflation Reduction Act in an aim to lower prescription drug costs and to promote clean energy investments which both were methods to reduce the federal deficit. Several critics argued that the President’s focus on green energy initiatives neglected the needs of the traditional energy industry and contributed to higher energy prices and general inflation in the country.

As time came towards the end of Biden’s term and the 2024 election, Biden had prepared a campaign to run for president again. However,  due to his age and health which brought up much controversy on whether he could run the country for another four years, he decided to drop out of the election at the last second and Kamala Harris, the vice President stepped up but ultimately lost to Donald Trump in November of 2024.

In conclusion, former President Joe Biden’s presidential term was quite a unique one. He was marked by unprecedented challenges including the pandemic, international conflicts, and economic wavering. He had notable efforts to address climate change and unite allies and for that he remains a memorable president of the United States of America.
